Site integration

Bathroom Pod Installation: Site & MEP Readiness

Factory completion changes the work on site rather than eliminating it. Contractors still need to receive modules, protect finishes, move them through the building, complete services and commission the finished bathrooms.

Project-led B2B guidanceReviewed October 2026

Who this is for

Site managers and MEP coordinators.

Before the first truck arrives

Confirm site access, vehicle movement, storage policy, pod dimensions and lifting weights. The structural floor, door openings and crane plan need to accommodate the specific product.

  • Issue a detailed pod delivery and lifting schedule.
  • Verify openings, floor levels and tolerances.
  • Agree damage inspection and acceptance on arrival.

Set and connect the pods

Place units according to approved setting-out drawings and structural detail. Complete hot/cold water, wastewater, electrical, ventilation and required sealing works under the agreed scope.

  • Protect completed interiors from subsequent trades.
  • Record connection responsibility and inspections.
  • Do not conceal uninspected critical interfaces.

Test, commission and hand over

Factory tests complement rather than replace site connection and commissioning checks. Track individual pod IDs, defects, as-built documents and warranty materials through to handover.

  • Define water and electrical test responsibilities.
  • Record remedial work before room handover.
  • Provide operation, maintenance and spare-parts documentation.

Questions project buyers ask

Are bathroom pods plug-and-play?

That phrase can be misleading. Units are frequently substantially complete, but placement and multiple utility connections remain.

Who lifts the pods into the building?

The specific contract should name the crane or lifting provider, the installer, the receiving party and responsibility for damage.

Decision note

Codes, permits and system performance vary by location and selected manufacturer. Ask your architect, MEP consultants and approving authorities to review the specific proposal before contract award.
